Honolulu
Radio Free Music Center (1311 Kapiolani Blvd Suite 106). For record stores there is the Radio Free Music Center, which sells anything Radio Free plays, if you get big on the station, tons of kids will buy your records. Altogether Hawaii's best music store. (Radio Free Hawaii is no longer- me.)
Jelly's Comics and Books (Market City Shopping Center, 2919 Kapiolani Blvd). Jelly's used to be the best music store before the Radio Free Music Center came along. They still have one of the biggest selections of punk and ska in Hawaii, and they'll order anything you want, so they're pretty good with new bands.
Hungry Ear Records and Tapes (1518 E Makaloa). Hungry Ear is probly the third best place. The selection's not too big, but they're really cool people, and really open to new stuff, from vinyl, to cd's to tapes. Actually, all the three above places have vinyl, cds, and tapes, but not many other stores here do.
Nimitz Hall (1130 N Nimitz Hwy Suite B100). As of right this second we're kinda starved for venues.. we have The Groove, which is a big warehouse that usually charges a shitload for shows.. so it's not too great, but it's pretty much all we have, aside from little community places, which are pretty much one or two time things, before we get kicked out.
Paradise City Music and Collectibles (1558 S King Suite A). Paradise City has a whole bunch of harder to find stuff, especially ska, for their small store. They're a cool place, too. Lots of ska stuff, like patches and pins, also.
Purple Haze (2741 S King). Purple Haze I've only been in a couple times, they have jacked up prices, but a lot of records.
Rainbow Books and Records (1010 University Ave) Rainbow pretty much only does the used CD thing, so I don't think they'd be what you're looking for, but here's their address anyway.
Reggae City (1511 Nuuanu Ave Suite 934) Reggae City is a pretty cool record store, for reggae and some old and obscure ska.
Make sure to tell all these places that noey, from KYTZYLzine sent you! I need to plug my zine anyway i can..
